dog pepper spray
In the past day I’ve read 6 questions stared, answered, and even asked by my contacts about Cesar Milan and his training methods.
Every one of them used 1 minute excerpts from his episodes saying he was injuring, abusing, or somehow hurting these dogs.
I am NOT a fan of Cesar. I never have been. As far as I’m concerned my local trainer uses his techniques more naturally and much better than Cesar ever will.
But the thing being –
I have seen no abuse of any sort in any of the episodes my father has put on in my presence.
-Quickly tapping a dog on the neck to break concentration.
-Trying to keep a leash slacked while a dog is choking itself.
-Pushing a dog to the floor once it’s tired of attacking.
etc.
But then they seem to intertwine his dominance-training with the use of Chokers, Shock collars, etc.
I’m not going to lie.
I grew up being taught that if a dog did something bad [not just excreting in the house, more of attacking another dog, a human, or something of that extent], then it deserves a "good beating" [a "heavy hand" as my mother prefers it].
It’s not something that I believe should exist with most dogs, but I do believe some dogs need a "heavy hand" of *some* sort [not just a good cuff over the muzzle. chokers, prongs, shock collars, even "doggy" pepper spray] under the right conditions.
I watched the transformation with our neighbour’s dog when I was a child. It consistently went after every human, and my father suggested a "good beating". The next thing I knew, the dog was as happy as could be and never showed a sign of aggression at all.
Now. Back to Cesar’s methods.
Are they justified in saying that a tap ["bite"] is abusive and unjust?
Are they justified in saying that holding a dog at the end of the leash while it’s trying to attack them is horribly abusive and unjust?
Your opinions?
Bonzie — Yeah, my apologies for that.
I was actually reading an answer to yet another CM question, and they were speaking of aggressive dogs.
I realized I should have at *least* posted the question on here, in case it helped in the least bit.
Sorry, again.
Disclaimer[!!]:: I’ve never done more than a quick tap ["bite"] on the side of a dog’s neck; as my personal trainer has told/showed me to do.
I’m quite debating re-editing and re-asking this question, really.

^That was the question.
It amazes me how people still feel the need to constantly compare two completely different species — us, and dogs.
rescue — With all due respect, I’m quite sure society has gotten more soft with children then they have with anything else — ever.
I see more kids peddling around with weed in their back pockets, cussing out those that should be respected — simply because they never got a wooden spoon to the a*se, or a few good spanks.
As far as I’m concerned, most every teenager coming into puberty at this moment could use a good few a*se spankings to put them in their place.
