DENVER – What started as a walk to the park with his dogs ended with a trip to the hospital for a Denver dog owner. 32-year-old Mark Ashford says he was beaten black and blue by two Denver Police officers. “They punched him and pinned him up against the fence and forced his head into the concrete.” Ashford’s attorney, Will Hart, said the beating that was caught on camera is a clear case of Excessive Force. “This happened when he was walking his dogs, he has a conversation with another citizen that the police officer doesn’t like and as a result, he ends up in the hospital,” said Hart. Hart says Mark Ashford was walking his dogs near 20th and Little Raven in LoDo, when he saw police pull over a driver for failing to stop at a stop sign. Ashford told the driver he saw him stop and would be willing to testify in court. Hart says the officer overheard him and “wasn’t very happy.” That’s when Ashford says the Denver police officers demanded his ID and detained him. Ashford tried to take a picture of the officers to document the incident, and a few second later he was on the ground. Police charged Ashford with interference and resisting arrest. Hart says, the charges were later dropped because the officers violated Ashford’s 4th amendment rights, “they had no reason to stop him, take his ID or detain him.” An Excessive Force complaint was filed against both officers involved. Police Brutality: ANDERSON, Ind. (WISH) – An Anderson woman said she lost her faith in law enforcement after SWAT members damaged her home and left her homeless. Mary Williams said being inside her house for much longer than a minute causes her eyes and throat to burn and her skin to itch. She said Anderson SWAT damaged her home even though she allowed them to search it for a wanted suspect. Anderson police got a tip that an armed and dangerous man was hiding out in a downtown home. Police said they were looking for Tracy Miller, also known as Tracy McCloud. He is the son of Williams’ boyfriend. He’s also wanted for armed robbery and federal drug dealing charges. “She said we can come in and look and then we found out there was a dog in there, which may put us in harms way. We said, ‘Would you mind removing the dog?’ She then came outside and said she didn’t want to remove the dog,” said Detective Mitch Carroll. This is where Williams’ story and the police story start to contradict. Williams said she did remove the dog from the house and waited across the street. Police Brutality: A Lakewood police officer tortures dog with Taser for no apparent reason. The dog (Otis) was not attacking them and the owner was on his way. Two women said that they heard Otis barking last Saturday morning around 8:30 am and looked out of their apartment window to see the pup surrounded by several police officers. The officers tasered Otis twice “like he was a grizzly bear,” said witness Christina MacDonald. A man whose home Columbia police raided in February on a narcotics search warrant has pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge and is contemplating a civil action against the department for shooting his two dogs during the raid. Jonathan E. Whitworth, 25, of 1501 Kinloch Court entered into a plea agreement with the state to drop charges of possession of marijuana and second-degree child endangerment for a guilty plea to possession of drug paraphernalia. Investigators believed Whitworth was in possession of a large amount of marijuana and was considered a distributor, Deputy Chief Tom Dresner said in February. Police, who found a grinder, a pipe and a small amount of marijuana, shot two dogs upon entering Whitworths home around 8:30 pm Feb. 11. SWAT team members encountered a pit bull upon entry, held back and then fatally shot the dog, police say. Officers said the dog was acting in an uncontrollably aggressive manner. A video of the raid shows that a shot was fired upon entry, but the pit bull was not wounded until later. Whitworth was arrested, and his wife and 7-year-old son were present during the raid. A San Bernardino sheriff deputy comes on my property looking for someone that lives somewhere in the neighborhood and then feels threatened by my dog (which she knew was in the yard) and proceeds to pepper spray the dog and and get some of it on me.
Ok so its almost every oter time that i try to walk my dog that we get chased by loose dogs in our neighborhood. My town is so horiible about it! I have had dochunds, labs, mutts, pit bulls, german shepherd and a boxer loose that have come after me. Some run off after being yelled at, some when i get a stick or rock and the one wouldnt let me even move and some AWSOME guy in a truck came to my rescue.
Today i go home from work, stepped out of my car (in MY driveway) and from the corner of the house a huge lab mix charged at me with his hair standing on end. I ran intot he house and was going to take my dog out to pee but couldnt as we wouldnt leave. The myneighbors came out with their baby trying to get to their car and the husband had to chase and scream at the dog so his girl could get to the car. If you approach the dog all its hair on its back stands on end!
I called the cops and they said that since most labs are nice and the vet (pound) is full they arent going to do anything and that i need to wait till it leaves to take my dog out. Retarded I know!
So what do you think I should do? I was thinking to get pepper spray or mace, so that i can go out into my own yard, or to carry with me when (which is rare now, i usually go to the next town 15 minutes away to walk him) i try to take my dog for a walk.
Will mace or pepper spray STOP a dog from attacking or just piss it off? Which is better/stonger to use? Anyone else have to deal with this kind of crap and if so what do you do??
