You can change from frontline to k9 advantix or one of the other ones that contains Permethrin as an activie ingredient. Alternatives to this are using a natural pyrethrins product which has a lower toxicity and absorption rate. You could also plant a lot of chrysanthemum around your home as they repel many stinging insects.
I make a home made bug juice you can use. It keeps the bugs off my dog and me without harmful chemicals.
Bug Juice Recipe for humans and dogs (it is all I have tested on)
2 parts neem oil
2 parts soybean oil
5 parts tea tree oil
15 parts eucalyptus oil
2 parts dish soap
84 parts water
Mix together in spray bottle.
Shake and spray as needed.
Apart from this physical barriers like no see um netting are your only choice. Under no circumstances should you put anything containing any concentration of DEET on a dog. It is highly toxic.

There might be a commercial repellent for dogs avalable, but I would suggest using repellent for kids. If vets say that its OK to use sunblock for humans on a dog, I don’t see the trouble in using repellent for kids on a dog, too.
It can’t be bad to put it on your dog if parents put it on their babies right?

Try a poduct called, "Critter Oil." I just started using it on my dogs, and it seems to be working. It is 100% natural and safe.
Here’s a link to a supplier:
